Ashifa Dholiar: A Story of Courage and Creativity

On July 24th, during the Inter-Class Competitions at L.D. Arts College, Ashifa Dholiar, a student of the institution, emerged as a powerful symbol of resilience and hope. Despite having lost the use of both her hands due to an electrical accident in childhood, Ashifa participated in the On the Spot Painting and Poster Making events — painting gracefully with her feet.

Her work, vibrant and purposeful, was not only a display of artistic talent but also a reflection of unyielding determination. In a quiet classroom corner, while others used their hands, Ashifa used her spirit — and her feet — to craft images full of meaning and motion.

Ashifa’s journey is a testament to the triumph of will over limitation. She reminds us of the words by Helen Keller:

“Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.”

Students and faculty alike were moved by her presence — not as an exception, but as an inspiration. Ashifa represents the best of what L.D. Arts College stands for: inclusivity, perseverance, and the unbounded power of the human spirit.
