On 17 September 2026, a Swachhata Abhiyan was organised at the Gujarat University campus on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s seva and samarpan’s 25-year celebration. Cleanliness and community-service activities were also among the public programmes associated with the occasion in Gujarat.
The programme was attended by Gujarat University Registrar P. M. Patel and NSS Co-ordinator Dr. N. P. Verma, who witnessed the active participation of more than 100 NSS volunteers from L. D. Arts College. The programme began with a pledge for cleanliness, in which the volunteers committed themselves to maintaining cleanliness and encouraging others to contribute towards a clean and healthy environment.
Following the pledge, the NSS volunteers actively participated in cleaning the Gujarat University campus. They worked together to clean different areas of the campus and helped spread awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.
The activity provided the volunteers with an opportunity to put the values of NSS — service, responsibility, discipline and community participation — into practice. The Swachhata Abhiyan was a meaningful experience for the participating NSS volunteers and reinforced the message that cleanliness is a shared responsibility and that young people can play an important role in keeping their surroundings clean.
