Every year, 10th September is observed globally as World Suicide Prevention Day, an initiative of the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO). The day serves as a reminder of the urgent need to raise awareness about suicide as a major public health issue and to promote preventive strategies through education, compassion, and community involvement.
In alignment with this important cause, the Department of Psychology, L. D. Arts College, organized a Poster Making Exhibition on 10th September 2025. The event was aimed at spreading awareness among students regarding the significance of mental health, early identification of distress, and preventive measures against suicide.
The exhibition featured a wide range of creative posters designed by the students, each highlighting powerful messages about hope, resilience, and the importance of seeking help. The posters emphasized themes such as breaking the stigma around mental health, recognizing warning signs, and building supportive networks to save lives.
Principal Dr. Mahipatsinh Chavda graced the occasion and motivated the students with his encouraging words. The exhibition displayed creative and thought-provoking posters prepared by students, reflecting their sensitivity towards the issue and their commitment to spreading awareness.
The programme was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. Shailesh Rawal, Dr. Hardas Nandaniya, and Dr. Suman Mishra, who provided valuable support and direction to the participants.
The event proved to be both educational and inspiring, leaving a strong impact on students by reinforcing the importance of psychological well-being and community support in suicide prevention.
