Dr. Mahipatsinh Chavda, Principal
As I look out from my window onto the lush green campus, with sprawling lawns, blooming flowers, and the merry voices of the students as they race to the canteen before the next class begins, I feel a sense of pride and a deep sense of satisfaction at being at the helm of affairs at L.D. Arts College since 2005! After my stint as the Vice-Chancelor at Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University, from 2019 to 2022, it was a pleasure to resume duties once again at L.D. Arts. A college that takes pride in beginning its pious journey of education in 1937, under the aegis of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, has empowered generations and generations of students and enabled them to become responsible, mature, diligent, and industrious citizens of this great country!
We came to this campus in the year 2017, furthering our opportunities by being next-door neighbors to the IIM, Ahmedabad. With PRL and G.U. almost in the same vicinity, L.D. Arts can boast of being in august company!
The rich cultural heritage of the city and the College has provided us with additional responsibilities to carry forward this extremely rich heritage. And I am glad to note that we have succeeded in doing so! I am perceived as being a strict disciplinarian, with no leniency towards the rule-breakers—a perception I have not tried to erase because, as the Principal, as the person under whom such a vast college operates, I have to think of the student’s future, their preparedness for aligning with the market demands, and at the same time, remaining faithful and committed to our great country.
As we enter the new era of the NEP, the curriculum becomes challenging, with technology taking center stage in the teaching-learning process. However, I am proud of the fact that my colleagues and the faculty members are totally equipped to take on these challenges head-on! The entire fabric of education, from schools to higher education, is set to undergo a massive change; hence, in such times, it is important to understand the basic tenets of the new system and get acclimatized to the same at the earliest. For the same reason, we at L.D. Arts take pride in the fact that we have organized more than a couple of FDPs to familiarize ourselves with the new developments.
The past academic year, 2023–24, has again been a very rich and satisfying year in terms of academic performance, Sports, Co-curricular activities, Cultural Events, the NSS, and the NCC. I am totally confident that the same will happen in the current academic year as well.
As the facilitator for all aspects of the College, I am very happy to note that having such supportive management in the form of The Ahmedabad Education Society (AES) is a blessing. Their presence motivates us all and guides us whenever we need any kind of guidance. Their vast infrastructure is readily available for us at all times.
I am looking forward to a very fruitful time in the coming days. The new system, new curriculum, new dimensions, new learning, and new challenges will take us to a higher level of excellence and intellectual diversity. We have always believed in the principles of Sardar Patel to keep up our country’s march towards brotherhood, equality, tolerance, and generosity, and we will continue to do so in the coming years!
Signing off on this upbeat mood to face a fresher, brighter tomorrow!
